Story of US - 51st episode!
“Aaron, why did Peace and Ted run out?” James asked as Aaron walked down with Agnes.
“It’s a long story.” Aaron sighed.
“We love long story! So let’s grab our chairs and listen to the story. Aaron, make sure your story is interesting!” Jim said and signaled everyone to gather around.
“Well, Ted got rejected by Peace not so long ago. Being the best buddy of Ted, I thought I could do something to help them. On top of all, Peace is my cousin. So, I got my dearest girlfriend to sound Peace out on her feelings for Ted. I was outside Agnes’ room eavesdropping on their conversation earlier on.”
“I said I’ll tell you what she said, why did you eavesdrop on us?” Agnes pulled Aaron’s ear.
“Sorry, baby. I just can’t wait.”
“Carry on, why did Peace run out of the house with Ted chasing after her then?” Angie urged.
“I have no idea why Ted chase after her. But she ran out of Agnes’ room after I reprimanded her on still having feelings for Ice.”
“Ice?” The story listeners asked at the same time.
“Peace, Ice and Wind were very close friends. They were classmates and band members for six long years in Fraser Primary School. As they lived in the same neighborhood, they would walk home together after school. The guys always send Peace to her doorstep before heading home on their own. Standing at 1.88m, Wind was the tallest lower secondary guy when the three friends entered Fraser Secondary and became classmates once more.
Fraser Secondary has a fully facilitated gym opened to all students. Wind loved the gym and made full use of it. By the time he promoted to Secondary Two, he had trained up his built to a six-pack body. Going to the beach for wake-boarding was another of his interest. Wind could be found on Coral Beach doing his favorite hobby every weekend.
On the other hand, Ice hates to be in the sun. He preferred indoor activities. Ice played online games or read in his free time. Ice was an intelligent and diligent student who secured top in class every year. He was a civilized boy who never raised his voice at anyone. Gentle as he was, he would still stand out and speak up for his friends when they are in trouble.
Often, Peace and Ice would do their homework and revision in the library while waiting for Wind to finish his training in the gym before going home together after school. During Secondary One CCA open house, Peace and Ice signed up for band while Wind decided to try out something new and joined the dragon boat club. Having spent most of their times together, Peace started to develop feelings for Ice. She loved the seriousness Ice had towards his studies and even when he was playing online games. Peace admired him for his patience in teaching Wind and her before the exams start.
Peace believed in equality between genders. That is the reason for confessing her feelings to Ice and even asked him to be her boyfriend. As you may have heard, for a guy to go after a girl, it's like climbing a mountain; whereas for a girl to go after a guy is just like stepping over sand. Being such close friends with Peace for so many years, it was inevitable that Ice too had feelings for Peace. It wasn't long before they told Wind that they were together.
Wind didn't say much. His reply was, "Oh, I see. It's only right that the both of you get together."
However, Wind start to exclude himself from their usual activities they always did together. Many a times, he told them to go home without him. He would always use excuses like having dragon boat training or going to the gym. The distance between Wind and his couple friends seemed to get greater as the days went by.
It wasn't a smooth sailing relationship between Peace and Ice either. Ever since they got together, quarrels broke up. When they were still close friends, the three of them never had the slightest argument. It was a friendship of fun and laughter, peace and joy.
After six months of quarrels and cold wars, Ice decided to break off with Peace.
"Peace, I have given our relationship a serious thought. I guess we are better off as friends. We used to be happy with each other presence in both work and play. Ever since, we got together, both our happiness level has fallen greatly. That is not what I want. I think we should just break up and move down our level back to close friends. We are not suitable for each other, Peace."
"How could you even make such irresponsible remarks? All these while, I have been giving in to you and making a lot of changes for you! Don't you even appreciate all that? I am trying so hard to salvage our relationship on my end, yet you want a breakup with this kind of reasoning?" Tears rolled down Peace's cheeks.
"That's the way you are. You cry so easily. Every time when differences arise, you cried. Then you followed with a sentence that you would change. Peace, don't you understand that love is not changing yourself to be the way your partner wants you to be? Love is when you accept the way your partner already is and like the way you are. Why do you have to make yourself suffer like this? Why can't you understand that we are not suitable for each other at all? We can still be good friends, you know?"
"Ice, don't leave me. You know how much I love you and I believe you love me too. Don't you? We can work hand in hand to work this out. Please?" Peace held onto Ice's hands and begged.
"NO! He loves you no more or rather; he has never loved you at all!"
