The story of US - 36th episode!
Three years later, one summer day in 2003.
“Doctor Reynolds! We have a patient at the emergency area. Would you please come over right now?” came the nurse’s voice over the phone.
Putting down the phone, Agnes rushed out of her office and headed towards the emergency ward.
“How’s the patient’s condition?” Agnes asked.
“He was sent here after a heart attack. Doctor Sims has diagnosed him and said he needs a heart bypass operation right away. That is why we call for you.” The nurse explained as she tried to keep up with Agnes’ pace.
“Ok, prepare the surgery room and get the necessary staff ready now.” Agnes instructed as she made her way to the patient.
“Aaron!” Agnes was stunned to see the familiar face upon stepping into the room.
“Doctor Reynolds, you know the patient? He is in a critical condition. A bypass operation needs to be done immediately.” Doctor Sims said.
In no time, Aaron was pushed into the operating room.
The operation lasted for 2 hours and under the hands of Doctor Agnes Reynolds, top heart specialist in Carson Hospital, the operation was a success.
Ted and Peace was waiting outside the operating room as Agnes stepped out.
“Hi Agnes! You are the heart surgeon for Aaron, I supposed he is alright now?” Ted asked worryingly.
“Don’t worry, Ted. His condition is stable and is sleeping like a pig now. Just wait for him to wake up, he will be fine.” Agnes smiled.
“However…” Her smile immediately turns into a frown. “How should I place it? I do not know if his health condition would allow him to stay in Halliburton National team, we still need to put him under observation for sometime.”
“Meaning his health is in a serious condition?” asked Peace, Aaron’s cousin.
“Well, he is not in any danger now. However, as I have said, we can’t be sure until he is put under observation for a period of time. I will catch up with you folks after I finish my rounds.” Agnes said.
In the ward, Ted and Peace waited patiently by Aaron’s bedside.
“Ted, Peace. You are here.” Aaron woke up after an hour.
“Of course we are. Guess what, pal. Agnes did a heart bypass operation for you.” Ted smiled as he helped Aaron up.
“Who is this Agnes, the heart surgeon?” Peace asked.
“I guess we didn’t have a chance to introduce ourselves. My name is Agnes as you know and I was their junior in Walter’s Uni. And you are?” Agnes said as she walked into the ward.
“No wonder I find your name familiar, so you were Aaron’s junior. I am Aaron’s cousin, Peace. The three of us often play basketball together.” Peace replied.
“Oh, I see. So, you are Peace. Ted often tells us about you. He said you are a great basketball player and play good music.” Agnes winked at Ted.
Aaron has intention of bringing Ted and Peace together. Peace had been admiring Aaron for his basketball skills since young. He was also the reason she took up basketball for. Aaron thought she would make a perfect match with Ted as they both have similar interests and in some ways, he felt that Peace resembles Joy. As for Ted, he has not dated any girl since Joy left. For all those reason, Aaron organized a street basketball match and let the two meets for the first time. To his surprise, not much effort was needed from him. Both of them hit it off quite well the first time they met. Since then, they have been going out with each other. Ted still frequent Hartford’s Pub after Joy’s demise and the Reynolds’ family started to notice that Ted seems to find back his cheerful self and smiled more nowadays. After much interrogating from the Reynolds, Ted told them about a girl named Peace. They were happy that Ted is finally ready for a new relationship. After all, it had been so many years since Joy passed away.
“He really said that? Ha-ha I am surprised he actually knows how to praise people. The both of them always make fun of me.” Peace said as she sticks out her tongue at the guys.
“Peace, she is Aaron’s ex girlfriend.” Ted whispered into Peace’s ear.
“OH!” Peace exclaimed.
From Peace’s reaction, both Agnes and Aaron knew just what Ted was telling her.
Ignoring the secret whisperings that continue between Peace and Ted, Agnes turned to examine Aaron. “So, how are you feeling right now?”
“I feel fine. Ted told me that you did the operation for me. Thank You!” Aaron replied with a weak smile.
“I am just doing my job. Your condition is kind of stable now, however we need to put you under observation for awhile. If everything goes smoothly, you can be discharged and continues with what you are doing.” Agnes spoke with a serious tone.
“What would happen if things don’t go smoothly then? You sound serious, Agnes. Tell me honestly, is there anything wrong with me?” Aaron asked, holding onto Agnes’ hands.
Peace and Ted stop their conversation and turned to wait for Agnes’ reply.
“Well, it is like this. Though we did a heart bypass operation for you, we cannot be sure if your heart would be able to function properly after this. If the heart rate remains stable throughout the observation period, you are fine. However, if the rate fluctuates greatly, we are afraid that you can no longer do any vigorous exercise. Yes, it would also means you have to withdraw from HBA. (Halliburton Basketball Association)” Agnes explained as the others listened in shock.
“How can it be? Why is this happening when I am at the peak of my career? No!” Aaron shakes his head.
“Get a hold on yourself, pal!” Ted tried to calm him down. “They are just putting you under observation. You would be ok. Agnes is the best heart specialist in Halliburton; you would be fine under her care.”
“I would try my best to see what I can do.” Agnes gave an assuring smile.

Peace has finally come into the picture. She is the next impt reason for my story. What would happen between the characters in the story?
