Fate 缘 Chapter 3
At the CCA open house…
“Hey Dan! Are you signing up for Dragon Boat too?” Pat has just completed her registration.
“Yup, it seems like fun and a great way to keep fit with their weekly training. The members seem to bond strongly too. You know how I always love team sports just like those good old basketball days. A pity they don’t offer basketball as CCA over here.” Dan replied as he looked beyond Pat’s shoulder.
“Looking for Ash? You would not expect her to join Dragon Boat as we do right? She’s over at the inline skating booth. Are you done? Let’s go over then.”
“Ash, ready to go? I’m starving; let’s have lunch together with Dan.” Pat held Ash by the arms.
“Mind if my classmate joins us?” Dan said pointing to another guy at the inline skating booth.
“Ze Yan?” Pat was astonished to see the guy’s face when he turned to face them.
“You are?” The guy asked with a curious look on his face as he was used to being call Leo ever since he entered secondary school.
Christian names were the in thing during their secondary school days. Almost everyone picked one for themselves and make family and friends change their way of addressing them.
“I’m Xue Wen. We were classmates in primary five and six, remember?”
“I can’t believe it man! You have changed so much. You used to be short, fair with long hair and abit plump. Look! You are tall, tanned and looks great even with the short hair.”
Leo’s praises make Pat blushed. Pat actually holds a candle for Leo when they were in primary school. However, Leo was blessed with good looks and being a talented member during his gymnastics days, many girls were attracted to him. Pat who was intimidated by her own looks felt that she was not good enough for him and never make known of her feelings to him. Though they went separate schools after PSLE, Leo became Pat’s motivation to change herself for the better. Initially, she took up basketball just to lose the extra weight. She has got more than she asked for. With the intensive training under the sun, she got a nice tan even some basketball guys envy and her height shoot up over the years.
“Thanks, Ze Yan! It’s nice seeing you after so long.”
“You are welcome, I’m merely speaking the fact though. By the way, just call me Leo.” Leo flashed the same smile that charmed the girls around him wherever he went.
Pat was no exception. She loved the way he smiles and how he carried himself with so much confidence. Leo was an eye candy for a lot of girls.
“I though you said you were hungry, Pat?” Ash knew about this Ze Yan – Leo guy.
It was the first time she met him face to face. Exactly the type of person Pat had been describing to her all these years. Ash was also the only person who knew Pat’s feelings towards him. That explained the frown on her face when she knew that the charming guy who was standing beside her enrolling for the same CCA is the guy her best friend had a crush on for so many years.
“And this is?” Leo smiled at Ash.
“Oh! She’s Ash, my best friend since young. Dan knows her too. They’re…”
“We were secondary school classmates.” Dan interrupted before Pat could continue.
Dan knew that Ash liked to keep her relationship low. She always felt that a relationship is between two persons and it is unnecessary to go around telling people that they are an item. Those special names couples like to give each other never happened between Ash and Dan. When they were together, Ash did a lot of things that left Dan puzzled. However he just followed suit, never intending to ask why. To him, all that matters was to let Ash be happy. He knew that going her way would do just that. Virgos never like to lose and just want to have the last say always. Though Dan was a Virgo himself, he loves Ash too much to argue with her on anything at all. She was the world to him. Ash knew that very well too.
“Time to go for lunch, we still need to rush for lessons after that.” Ash walked towards the canteen after completing her sentence.
That is Ash for you; a firm and decisive person who can be dominant at times. She leaves no room for debate but up till now, no one feels the need to do so either. Everything she does seem to find a perfect reason for themselves and every word she said always have a lot of impact on others.
