Ten Tips for Effective Business Writing

My colleague went for a course & the lecturer gave the following tips to them.
So, sharing them with my dear readers. =)

Ten Tips for Effective Business Writing

* Use modern business language instead of old – fashioned jargon.

* Ditch the dinosaur writing and those boring, standard clichés.

* Use short words and simple expressions.

* Be positive instead of negative and you’ll get positive results.

* Use active voice instead of passive voice.

* Structure your messages logically using Shirley’s 4 Point Plan.

* Consider the reader’s feelings and use appropriate tone.

* Use grammatically correct sentences, with no abbreviations.

* Write as if you are having a conversation.

* If an e-mail exchange is getting long and complicated, pick up the phone!
